Ants Tolerate Heat That Could Kill Land Animals | Narrated by David Attenborough | BBC Earth (Level 1)

It is almost noon in the desert. The sun is very hot. A lizard is hungry, but he cannot stay outside. The heat is too strong for him, so he goes away to hide. Now, the silver ants come out. They are special insects. They have silver skin that acts like a suit. This skin reflects the sun and keeps them safe. However, the ants can only stay outside for ten minutes. They must move very fast. They wait for the lizard to leave, and then they run to find food. They look for other animals that died in the heat. To find their way home, they watch the sun. They count their steps so they do not get lost. They find a meal, but the temperature is now 53 degrees Celsius. They must hurry back to their nest before the heat kills them.
