Barangay Ginebra won the first game of their basketball series against the San Miguel Beermen. It was an exciting match with many strong plays. Scotty Thompson was the best player for Ginebra. He scored 22 points and played very good defense. He also made important three-point shots to help his team. San Miguel has a very tall and strong player named June Mar Fajardo. He scored many points near the basket and grabbed many rebounds. His playing helped San Miguel stay close in the game. However, Ginebra had great teamwork. Players coming off the bench, like RJ Abarrientos, helped score points when the starters rested. In the final minutes, the game was very close. Ginebra’s players hit big shots from long distance to take the lead. A final layup by Scotty Thompson secured the win. Ginebra’s defense was excellent. They held the high-scoring San Miguel team to only 90 points.
