Game Physics Just Jumped A Generation (Level 1)

A new computer technique is changing how video games look. It helps computers create soft and squishy objects, like rubber balls or clothes. In the past, this was too slow to do in real time. Now, it is fast and looks very real. How does it work? Imagine a big net made of rubber bands. The computer cuts the net into many small squares. It gives each square to a small worker to solve quickly. However, if the workers do not talk to each other, the net breaks. So, the system uses a "manager." The manager looks at the whole net and tells the workers which way to move. This method was made by smart scientists, not Artificial Intelligence. The code is free for everyone to use.
