Is the Treasury Market Stuck in a Doom Loop? (Level 1)

US government bonds, called Treasuries, are being sold very quickly. This makes their prices go down, so their yields go up. A yield is the interest the government pays to borrow money. When yields go up, it means bond prices are falling. There are two reasons why this might be happening. First, more bond buyers are now hedge funds, not big banks. Hedge funds sell quickly when prices drop, which can cause more selling. Second, mortgage investments also fall when Treasury prices fall. This makes some investors sell even more Treasuries. This could become a bad cycle. Some people worry the market is in trouble. But it is not certain. The central bank might help, but that is hard because of big government spending and high inflation.
