Is this the Beginning of the End for OPEC? (Level 1)

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is leaving OPEC. OPEC is a big group of countries that sell oil. Saudi Arabia is the leader of this group. The group tries to control oil prices by making less oil. But the UAE wants to make and sell more oil. There are three main reasons for the UAE to leave now. First, the UAE does not agree with Saudi Arabia on many political issues. Second, the UAE is unhappy with Russia. Russia is a partner of OPEC. Third, the UAE wants to be closer to the United States. The US wants lower oil prices. What will happen next? In the short term, nothing will change much. But in the future, OPEC will lose its power. Other countries might also stop following the rules. This could be the end of the powerful oil group.
