Small children learn to speak slowly. They say funny and honest things. For example, a child might say, 'Grammy smells under her legs.' These words are very direct. But as they grow, children learn to not speak like that. They become careful. By age eight, they say polite things like 'I'm very well, thank you.' They stop sharing their true feelings. This is a normal part of growing up. But it can be a problem. Adults often forget how to say what they really feel. They keep sadness, anger, or worry inside. A good idea is to try speaking more openly again. We can do this kindly. For instance, we could say, 'I'm scared that you will reject me.' Or, 'I'm actually very worried.' When we share honestly, we feel better. It also helps others feel less alone. Speaking truthfully, but with care, can make life richer.
