Arthur Schopenhauer was a famous thinker who noticed a big problem. He saw that many people are unhappy because they care too much about what other people think. Schopenhauer lived alone and watched how humans behaved. He said there are three parts to life. First is who you are, like your health and personality. Second is what you have, like money. Third is your reputation, or how others see you. He believed the first part is the most important for happiness. However, many people focus on the third part. They buy expensive clothes or cars just to impress others. They want praise and applause. Schopenhauer called this a mistake. He said that other people’s opinions are often wrong or mean. If you live only for applause, you lose your true self. To be happy, you must focus on who you are inside, not on the eyes of others.
