In the far south of Madagascar, the weather is very hot and dry. This makes life hard for animals. But some special animals live only here. One is a small meat-eating mammal called Grandidier's vontsira. It comes out at night and eats mostly insects. It is a rare animal, and we do not know much about its life. The dry land also has a clever spider. It finds an empty snail shell to hide from the heat. But the shell cannot stay on the hot sand. So the spider uses silk to pull the shell up into a bush. It makes many short silk lines. Each line is shorter, so the shell moves up. This is a very new discovery. People filmed it for the first time. The spider must be careful. If the wind blows, the shell can swing and the spider loses control.
