Pakistan and Afghanistan are now fighting a war. Recently, the Taliban government in Afghanistan attacked the Pakistani army near the border. Pakistan answered by declaring "open war." They used airplanes to bomb two big cities in Afghanistan, Kabul and Kandahar. In the past, these two countries were friends. Pakistan helped the Taliban for many years. However, things changed in 2021. Terrorist groups started attacking Pakistan from inside Afghanistan. Pakistan wanted the Taliban to stop these bad groups, but the Taliban did not stop them. This caused many problems and anger between the neighbors. Now, the fighting is very serious. Pakistan has a huge army with 660,000 soldiers and powerful weapons. The Taliban has a much smaller army with only 170,000 soldiers. It is hard to see a good ending to this fight. Other countries, like China or Turkey, might try to help them stop the war. For now, the situation remains dangerous.
