Seneca was a wise man in ancient Rome. He taught a philosophy called Stoicism. He believed we must learn what we can control. We can control our minds. We cannot control money. Many people let money control their feelings. If they have money, they are happy. If they lose it, they are sad. Seneca said money is nice to have, but you do not need it to be a good person. How can we stop money from controlling us? First, know the difference between a need and a want. A need is food when you are hungry. A want is an expensive car to look rich. Second, wait one day before you buy something. This helps you make a smart choice. Third, be thankful for what you have. Do not look at people who have more. Look at people who have less. Finally, remember that you can be happy with very little.
