After the rain stops, thousands of butterflies appear. They dry their wings and prepare to fly. Their goal is to find a mate, but the forest leaves are too thick. They cannot see each other well in the jungle. To solve this problem, the butterflies have a smart plan. They follow the river upstream to the top of Mount Maru. The trip takes hours of hard flying. There are no trees at the peak, so it is a big open space. Here, they have a party called a "butterfly ball." The males fly fast and high to impress the females. This special dance happens for only 30 minutes each morning. After they meet a partner, the females fly back down to the forest to lay their eggs.
