Adelie penguins go on a very long journey. They travel 13,000 kilometers to reach Antarctica. These penguins need bare rocks for their babies because they cannot put eggs on ice. The male penguins arrive first. They go back to the same nests every year. After the cold winter, they must fix their homes quickly. The females will arrive in a few days. Building a nest is hard work. The male penguins look for small stones called pebbles. They want to find the perfect stones. Some penguins work very hard, but others are lazy. Some bad penguins steal stones from their neighbors. The thief takes a shortcut to build his nest faster. He steals from others, but he watches his own nest carefully so no one steals from him.
