The missing ingredient in how we learn (Level 1)

A long time ago, children learned by playing. But in 1851, the government in Prussia stopped this. They thought playing in school was bad. They made strict schools where playing and learning were separate. Today, many people think this strict way is wrong. They believe playing is the best way to learn. There are different types of schools that use play. In Montessori schools, children use special wooden toys to learn math and shapes. In Reggio Emilia schools, students choose what they want to learn. Teachers ask them questions and help them do fun projects. Some people worry that children will not learn everything they need. But these schools mix subjects like math and art together. Teachers work hard to make learning fun and safe. Studies show that children in these schools do very well in reading, math, and making friends. Even adults at big universities learn better when they can play and create.
