Cassandra was a princess of Troy. She could see the future. The god Apollo gave her this gift, but she refused his love, so he turned it into a curse. She could see clearly, but no one ever believed her. She warned her brother, Prince Paris, not to bring Helen to Troy, because it would cause a terrible war. Nobody listened. After ten years of fighting, the Greeks left a huge wooden horse outside the city. The Trojans thought it was a peace gift. Cassandra knew it was a trick. She ran to the horse with an axe, shouting a warning, but people laughed and pulled her down. That night, Greek soldiers came out of the horse and destroyed Troy. Cassandra had seen it all before. The Greek commander, Agamemnon, took her away. She told him he would be punished and that she would die too. Cassandra always told the truth, but everyone else chose not to believe her until it was too late.
