Trump's "Shield of the Americas” Explained (Level 1)

US President Donald Trump started a new military group. It is called the Shield of the Americas. The goal is to stop dangerous drug groups, called cartels. Leaders from many Latin American countries went to a meeting in Florida. They agreed to work with the US military. Recently, the US and Ecuador worked together to fight cartels in Ecuador. Trump says he will use the military to destroy these bad groups. However, there are problems. Big countries like Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia did not join. They do not want the US military in their countries. Also, experts say fighting is not enough. Leaders need to fix poverty, too. Finally, Trump wants to stop China from having too much power in the area. But China already has many businesses there. We will see if this new group works.
