Most of human history is hidden from us, like dark matter. We only see the world that came after. Long ago, before writing, our ancestors started farming and built the first villages. At Karahan Tepe and Göbekli Tepe, people carved huge stone pillars with animal designs. They worked together to feed builders and create communities. Over time, villages grew. At Çatalhöyük, people lived in houses without streets, entered through roofs, and buried family members under the floors. Around 8,200 years ago, a melting ice dam caused sea levels to rise and a long drought. Many people moved to rivers, especially the Nile and in Mesopotamia. There they built canals and grew more food. Later, cities like Uruk appeared, and administrators needed writing to count grain and beer. The first known written name is Kushim, found on a clay tablet. That name represents all the forgotten people who built civilization.
