In January 2025, large fires destroyed neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Journalist Nonny de la Peña and her team visited the area. They used special cameras to make 3D pictures of the damage. The air was toxic, so they wore masks and protective suits. Nonny saw her friends' homes in ruins. It was very sad. But there were some surprising stories. One young man’s car was not burned. He later drove it away. A bank building kept people’s important papers and family treasures safe inside. Nonny also lost her home in a fire a year and a half earlier. An electric bicycle battery exploded. She lost many things, but a small piece of paper survived. It was a note from the actor Mark Hamill. It said, 'The force will be with you always.' Nonny believes love is a strong force. She says we should use that love to help others and rebuild our communities.
