How you sleep is important for your health. There are four main positions: left side, right side, stomach, and back. Babies usually sleep on their backs to stay safe, but adults often prefer sleeping on their sides. Sleeping on your stomach is the least popular choice. Doctors say it can hurt your spine, though it helps some people breathe better. Sleeping on your back is good for back pain, but it can cause snoring. Experts say sleeping on your side is usually the best choice. If you have heartburn, the left side is better. If you have heart problems, the right side is better. Most people move many times during the night. This is normal and helps your body stay comfortable. You do not need to worry unless you have a specific health problem.
