Why Everyone Is So Obsessed With This $10K Eames Chair | WSJ Coveted (Level 1)

The Eames lounge chair is one of the most famous chairs in the world. You can see it in many popular movies and TV shows. Charles and Ray Eames designed this beautiful chair in 1956. They wanted it to feel warm and comfortable, like an old baseball glove. Making this chair takes a lot of time and care. Workers shape real wood and use thick, soft leather. Because the materials are so good, the chair is very expensive. A new one can cost over $5,000. To make sure the chair lasts a long time, the company tests it carefully. Machines push and turn the chair thousands of times. People never throw an Eames chair away. Families keep these chairs for their whole lives and give them to their children. It is a special piece of art for the home.
