Why India’s Gen Z Protests Are Heating Up (Level 1)

In India, young people are protesting again. They are called the Cockroach Janata Party, or CJP. The group first appeared earlier this year. They were angry about problems with exams. They demanded the education minister resign. In July, the minister did resign. That was a big win for the group. Now the group is angry about changes to India's voter list. The Election Commission is removing millions of names to clean the list. But many people say the process is unfair. Some groups, including Muslims, say they are hurt more than others. The CJP planned a big protest in New Delhi on October 10. Police said no and arrested thousands of people. The CJP leaders were arrested but later released. They say they will keep fighting. This is a new challenge for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
