Japan’s Prime Minister, Sani Takichi, has made China very angry. Last year, she said Japan might use its military if China attacks the island of Taiwan. China did not like this comment. In response, the Chinese government stopped buying Japanese seafood. They also told their citizens not to travel to Japan for holidays. However, Takichi is very popular in her own country. Last week, she won a big election. Her political party now controls the government completely. Because of this win, she wants to make Japan’s army stronger. She plans to spend a record amount of money on defense. She also wants to change the country's laws to allow the military to do more. China thinks Japan is becoming too aggressive. The relationship between the two countries is getting worse. Now, Takichi plans to meet with the President of the United States. She wants to make sure America supports Japan during this difficult time.
