A researcher says teens are doing better than many people think. She studies teens for 25 years. The news often says smartphones and social media are bad for teens. But her data shows this is not true. Teens are healthier in many ways. They use less alcohol and violence is down. More teens finish school. But teens still feel sad and worried. They worry about school, home, and the world. The biggest problem for teens is not social media. It is the mental health of adults around them. Many parents are stressed. To help teens, we need to help their parents and teachers. We need to spend money on schools and counselors. A social media ban may not work. Instead, we need to make the online world safer and support teens.
