Australian politics is changing quickly. The Labor Party won the 2025 election, but they are now losing support. At the same time, a small group called the One Nation Party is becoming very popular. The leader of this party is Pauline Hanson. She used to own a fish and chip shop before she became a politician in 1996. Pauline Hanson is famous for her strong opinions about immigration. In the 1990s, she said there were too many Asian immigrants. Later, she returned to politics and said there were too many Muslim immigrants. She believes these groups do not fit into Australian culture. Recently, more people have started listening to Hanson. There are two main reasons for this. First, life is very expensive in Australia right now. Second, people are worried about safety. A famous politician named Barnaby Joyce joined her party because he believes immigration makes housing too expensive. Also, after a tragic shooting at Bondi Beach, Hanson blamed the government's immigration rules. Because of these events, the One Nation Party now has about 20% support in the polls.
