Why is Latin America Shifting Right? (Level 1)

Politics in Latin America is changing. Recently, a conservative leader named Jose Antonio Kast won the election in Chile. He is not the only one. Right-wing politicians are also winning in Argentina, Bolivia, and Honduras. In the past, many countries in this region voted for left-wing leaders. Now, that is changing. There are three main reasons for this shift. First, prices for food and goods are going up. People are angry at the current leaders because life is expensive. Second, people are worried about crime. Voters want leaders who will be tough on criminals and gangs. Third, many voters care about traditional family values. They listen to politicians who talk about these issues on social media. While Mexico and Brazil still have left-wing presidents, most of Latin America is moving to the right.
