For a long time, the US dollar was very steady. However, last week, its value dropped suddenly. This is the biggest drop in a long time. Experts use the "Dollar Index" to measure this. It compares the dollar to other world currencies to see how strong it really is. There are three main reasons for this change. First, President Trump made political moves regarding Greenland. This scared investors who worry about trade wars. Second, the Japanese yen became stronger. When Japan’s money goes up, the US dollar often looks weaker by comparison. Finally, the US government might close down soon because of a disagreement about border security laws. Also, people are worried about the future economy. Some reports show that fewer countries want to keep US dollars in their banks. These problems make the dollar less valuable right now.
