China and the United States are competing for power. China wants to find ways to control important global supplies. For example, China controls rare earth minerals. These are materials needed for electronics. By controlling them, China gains power over the US. China is watching American politics closely. Chinese leaders think former US President Donald Trump is chaotic. However, they also see him as an opportunity. They believe he is easier to make deals with than other politicians. Around the world, people's opinions are changing. Many countries view the US as unpredictable right now. At the same time, they see China as more stable. But China only wants to look out for itself. It does not want to be the new global leader. China likes the current global system because it benefits from American security. However, if the world becomes more chaotic, China’s selfish plan might become a big problem.
