Blaise Pascal was a famous thinker from France. He was born in 1623. As a child, he was very sick, but he was also a genius. By age 12, he understood complex geometry. In his 20s, he invented a mechanical calculator and studied science. However, his life changed when he was 31. He had a powerful religious experience one night. He called it the "Night of Fire." After this, he stopped studying math. Instead, he focused on God. Pascal began writing a book called "Pensรฉes." He died before he could finish it, but his notes were published later. The book explains that humans are often unhappy and bored. We try to distract ourselves to avoid feeling empty. Pascal believed that believing in God was the cure for this unhappiness. He is famous for "Pascal's Wager." This idea says it is safer to bet that God exists. If you are right, you go to heaven. If you are wrong, you lose nothing. Pascal showed that humans always look for hope.
