love cannot fix you (Level 1)

Many people ask: do you need to love yourself to love someone else? A famous thinker named Jacques Lacan had a strange idea about this. He said, "Love is giving something you don't have to someone who doesn't want it." What does this mean? Often, people feel empty inside. They feel they are not good enough. They think they need to be perfect to find love. But Lacan believed nobody is perfect or complete. When we love someone, we do not give them a perfect self. Instead, we share our empty parts and our fears. Also, people love mystery. If someone gives us everything, we might not want it. True love is not about fixing each other. It is about two people sharing their fears and staying together. Love is hard, but sharing our true selves makes it beautiful.
